On Friday, on the occasion of Sawan Shivratri, devotees are worshiping their idol. Kanha’s city is echoing with the chants of Lord Bholenath. Shiva devotees are seen eager to perform Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva. Some come from Haridwar and some from Raj to perform Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva.

During the month of Shravan, on the occasion of Shivratri festival, Kavadias are offering Ganga water to Lord Bholenath. Lord Krishna’s city Mathura has become Shiva-filled. A flood of devotees has gathered at the Shiva temples of Braj. Shiva devotees were seen eager to perform Jalabhishek of Lord Bholenath.

In Sawan, Shiva devotees reach the banks of Ganga and bring Kanwar from there. Some bring Dak Kanwar, while others bring Ganga water in a Kalash and keep it in the Kanwar. The Shiva devotees reach their Shiva temples and perform Jalabhishek of Lord Bholenath with the water brought in the Kanwar. Kavadias reach the Shiva temples of Braj carrying Dak Kavad. Wearing colorful dresses, Kavadias were performing Jal Abhishek of the Lord while whistling.
41 Kilo Haridwar From Ganges Water taking Came Devotee
Among the Kanwariyas, a devotee of Lord Bholenath was seen in Braj who brought 41 liters of Ganga water in pots from Haridwar on foot. Shivam, a resident of Gopinath Nagla in Vrindavan, reached Haridwar on July 21. From there, he took 41 liters of Ganga water in a pot and kept it in the Kanwar and walked to Gopeshwar Mahadev located in Vrindavan.

Shivam, along with his friends, reached Vrindavan on Friday morning, singing and playing, carrying a Kaanwar of 41 liters of Ganga water on his shoulders. With a wish to anoint Lord Bholenath with Ganga water on Shivratri, he started the 365-kilometer journey on 22 July. Seeing Shivam’s devotion, Lord Gopeshwar Nath fulfilled his wish and he reached Vrindavan on Friday morning. Where he anointed Lord Bholenath, seated in the form of Gopi, with Ganga water.
On the occasion of Sawan Shivratri, the police made elaborate security arrangements in the Shiva temples of Braj. Mathura reverberated with the chants of ‘Bam Bam Bhole’ of the Kanwariyas who were bringing Kanwar from Haridwar. Special arrangements were made at temples for the Kanwariyas to perform worship. Shiva devotees were performing Jal Abhishek at Shiva temples one by one.

It is believed that during the Samudra Manthan, Lord Shiva drank the water that came out of the sea. To reduce the wrath of the water, today on Sawan Shivratri, Lord Bholenath is offered water. To provide coolness, devotees offer Ganga water and water to Bholenath. According to beliefs, Sawan Shivratri has special significance and Lord Bholenath fulfills everyone’s wishes.
