Two brothers from Hapur were returning after visiting Badrinath and Kedarnath. On Friday, their bike was hit by a snow avalanche near Chhinka village on the Chamoli-Badrinath National Highway. Due to which both of them jumped and fell into the Alaknanda river. Police recovered the body of one of them through divers.

Local Atul Saini said that on 28th July he had left home with his younger brother Vipin to visit Badrinath and Kedarnath. Raju Saini, originally from Malkpur and currently from Lavad town of Meerut, and his cousin Keshav Saini, a resident of Murlipur village of Meerut, also left with him on another bike. After visiting, on the evening of 2nd August, he and Keshav were returning on one bike while his brother Vipin and cousin Raju were returning on another bike.
As soon as his bike reached near village Chimka in Chamoli, his bike was moving ahead of Vipin and Raju’s bike at a distance of about 50 meters. During this time, during the avalanche here, some stones fell rapidly and collided with Vipin and Raju’s bike and Vipin and Raju jumped and fell into the Ganga. After this, he informed the local police about it. The police intensified the search for both of them through divers. The diver recovered Raju’s body after going some distance. While no trace of Vipin has been found till now. Atul informed his uncle and family members about the accident.
On getting the information, the family reached Chhinka village of Chamoli village and started searching for Vipin with the help of divers. There is an atmosphere of mourning in his town Lavad due to Raju’s death. While Vipin’s family was also inconsolable. The local police has denied having any knowledge of the case.
