1. PM Modi inaugurates 32nd ICAE
On August 3, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 32nd edition of the International Conference of Agricultural Economists (ICAE). The event was held at the National Agricultural Science Centre (NASC) in New Delhi. The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Transformation towards Sustainable Agri-Food Systems’.
PM Modi said that farmers will also be given a digital identification number for their land.
2. The central government removed the BSF Chief and Deputy Chief from their posts
On August 2, the central government removed Border Security Force (BSF) Director General (DG) Nitin Agarwal and Deputy Special Director General Yogesh Bahadur Khurania from their posts. Both were asked to report to their respective home cadres (Nitin Agarwal to Kerala and Khurania to Odisha). No official information has been revealed about the removal of both the top officials.
SSB DG Daljit Singh Chaudhary has been given additional charge of BSF DG.
3. Shubhanshu Shukla selected as Prime Astronaut for ISS
On August 2, India selected its prime astronaut for the Indo US Space Mission. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) announced Shubhanshu Shukla as the prime astronaut for this mission. Captain Prashant Nair has been selected as the backup for this mission. Both Group Captain Shubhanshu and Group Captain Prashant will be trained for the mission in the US from the first week of August. During the space mission, the selected Gaganyaatris will test scientific research and technologies and will also participate in outreach activities in space.
38-year-old Shubhanshu is a fighter pilot and combat leader.
4. Lieutenant VPS Kaushik became Adjutant General
On August 2, Viresh Pratap Singh Kaushik took over as the Adjutant General of the Indian Army. Prior to this, he was serving as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Trishakti Corps. VPS Kaushik became the Inspector General (IG) of Assam Rifles (North) in 2020. Kaushik was commissioned into 3 Kumaon (Rifles) in June 1988.
The Adjutant General assists the commanding officer in unit administration and manages human resources in the Army.
Kaushik is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and the Indian Military Academy.

1. Recruitment for 2424 posts of Assistant Professor in HPSC
Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) has released a notification for recruitment to 2424 posts. According to this notification, the application process for recruitment will start from 7 August 2024. Candidates will be able to fill the online form by visiting the official website hpsc.gov.in.
Educational Qualification :
- Post Graduation degree with minimum 55% marks from a recognized University/Institute.
- Must have studied Hindi/Sanskrit till 10th.
- Candidates must have qualified UGC NET/ SLET/ SET Exam.
Selection Process:
- screening tests
- Subject Knowledge Test
- Interview
Exam Pattern :
- First of all you will have to give screening and subject knowledge test.
- 100 MCQ questions will be asked in the screening test. Two hours will be given to solve it. This paper will be of 100 marks.
- The Subject Knowledge Test paper will be of 150 marks.
- 3 hours will be given to solve it.
2. 312 vacancies for Junior Translator in SSC
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the notification for JHT recruitment. Under this, recruitment has been announced for the Group B non-gazetted posts of Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translator Officer, Junior Translator, Senior Hindi Translator and Senior Translator for various ministries/departments/organizations of the Government of India. Candidates can apply by visiting the official website ssc.gov.in.
Educational Qualification :
- Master’s degree in Hindi or English or Master’s degree in English medium with Hindi subject (compulsory) from a recognized University/Institute as per the post.
- Candidates must have Hindi- English Translation Diploma or Certificate Course and 2/3 years experience as per the post.
Selection Process:
- Tier – 1
- Tier – 2
- Document Verification
- Medical Exam
Exam Pattern :
- The exam will consist of two papers. Paper I will be a computer-based exam and Paper II will be in descriptive mode.
- Paper I will consist of General Hindi and General English. Paper II will consist of Translation and Essay. Both papers will be of 2 hours each.
- Paper-I will consist of objective type MCQs only.
- There will also be negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer in Paper I.

1. Delhi University released calendar for academic session 2024-24
Delhi University has released the academic calendar for the academic session 2024-25. Classes for the first semester of undergraduate courses will begin from August 29. Term end exams will be held from January 6 and then there will be a winter break. The second semester will start from January 27. 2. IBPS released the admit card for RRB PO exam
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has released the admit cards for the RRB PO exam. The exam is scheduled to be held on August 10, 17 and 18. Candidates can download the admit card by visiting the official website ibps.in. with the help of their roll number and date of birth.
