Balrampur Nagar Palika held a meeting with the officials and employees of the health department regarding the Filaria eradication program. Many officials including Dr. Meenakshi Chaudhary, Additional Chief Medical Officer were present in the meeting. Preparations were discussed in the meeting.

Nodal officer NUHM said that Filaria is an incurable disease. Once it occurs, there is no effective treatment for it. For this, the government will organize Filaria Day program from 10 August to 2 September. During this program, people will be given 400 mg tablet of Albendazole and 100 mg tablet of DEC according to age. Preparations are being made for this.

Filaria is an infectious disease caused by mosquito bites. It is commonly known as elephantiasis. The symptoms of filariasis are not visible initially, but there is a general fever, pain or swelling in hands and legs, swelling around the male genitals, swelling in hands and feet, swelling in the testicles which is also called hydrocele. To prevent this, the government is starting a program from August 10. In which the team formed will go door-to-door and give medicine to the people along with information.

Nagar Palika Parishad President Representative DP Singh Bais said that to get rid of filariasis, take medicine in maximum numbers and help in giving medicine to others. So that not only our city but our district and our state can become filariasis free. Along with this, everyone was sworn in to make the city filariasis free.

Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr. Meenakshi Chaudhary, Municipal Council President representative DP Singh Bais, PCI institution Atul Tiwari, Nagari Primary Health Center Pharmacist Sameer Ahmed Siddiqui, Indresh Kumar Verma and others were present in the meeting.
