Aamir Khan On The REAL Reason He Was Removed From Shah Rukh Khan’s Darr: ‘Jab Ek Se Zyada Hero Ho…’ – News18

Shah Rukh Khan played the villain in Darr.

Before Yash Chopra decided to cast Shah Rukh Khan as the villain in Darr, he tried his hands at convincing Aamir Khan.

Bollywood director-producer Yash Chopra’s 1993 film Darr remains a classic in Indian cinema. With Shah Rukh Khan in a standout role as the obsessed villain, the romance thriller struck a perfect chord with audiences. Starring Sunny Deol and Juhi Chawla in the lead, Darr made it impossible to imagine anyone else playing the iconic role of Rahul Mehra. SRK’s intense performance and memorable dialogue delivery stole the show, even as he played the film’s antagonist.

Before the filmmaker decided to cast Shah Rukh as the villain, he tried his hands at convincing Aamir Khan. But he did not succeed in roping in the actor. Earlier, in an interview with Sushma Dutt in Vancouver, Aamir Khan, who was touring Canada at that point, had opened up on it.

Aamir said that he liked the story of Darr and was keen on working with Yash Chopra once again. “I really liked the story, and Yash Chopra is a very good director. I have worked with him on Parampara and was very keen on working with him again. But, I have a principle, or you could say a policy, that if I’m working on a film with two heroes or more on one hero, I request the director for a joint narration. I prefer the director to narrate the story to both heroes together,” he said.

Recalling another two-hero film that he did, Aamir said in Hindi, “Even during Andaz Apna Apna, Salman and I received a joint narration. This approach ensures that both of us are satisfied with our roles and helps prevent any issues later on. This is how I like to work. But in this case, it was not possible. Yash ji did not feel that he should give a joint narration. On that basis, I was removed from the project.”
