Police of Devgaon police station of Azamgarh district arrested a cow smuggler in an encounter.
The police of Devgaon police station of Azamgarh district have arrested a cow smuggler who was absconding in an encounter. On July 16, some people were slaughtering and skinning banned animals near the river police on the Kaithishankar Overbridge in Devgaon police station area of the district. On receiving information about the matter, the police reached the spot.

After which, when the case was registered and investigation was started, the names of Sanjay Saroj, Khurshid, Dilchain, Abul Kash and Shahid alias Kariya came to light. In this case, Sanjay and Abu Kash have been arrested and sent to jail, while accused Khurshid surrendered in the court. While Shahid alias Kariya and Dilchain were absconding.

Vinay Kumar Mishra, in-charge of Devgaon police station and Nand Kumar Tiwari and Shriprakash Shukla, in-charge of SWAT team, were searching for the absconding accused. Meanwhile, the joint team received information that the absconding accused was coming from Devgaon towards Gosaiganj. On this information, the police started checking. Meanwhile, a bike was seen coming. When the police tried to stop the suspicious bike rider, the accused opened fire on the police.
In the controlled firing by the police, the accused was shot in his right leg. The accused was sent to the hospital for treatment in the morning. The injured criminal was identified as Shahid alias Kariya. Illegal arms and cartridges along with a stolen bike have also been recovered from the possession of the accused. During interrogation, the accused has admitted that we form a gang and slaughter animals. We share the profit made from it among ourselves.

Revealing this matter, the SP City Shailendra Lal of the district said that the accused who was injured in the police encounter was absconding. He was being searched for. In this regard, SP City Shailendra Lal said that other members of the gang will be arrested and action will be taken against them under Gangster Act along with gang registration and property confiscation.
