Former BJP MLA from Rudhauli in Basti, Sanjay Pratap Jaiswal has sent a letter to the Chief Minister alleging that crores of rupees were being distributed under the Amrit Yojana in the Municipal Council. He has demanded a high-level investigation of the scheme and action against the guilty officers and employees.

In the letter sent to the CM, the MLA said that under the Amrit Yojana, the Center had approved Rs 40 crore to provide water to every house in 25 wards of Nagarpalika Basti. Its implementing agency was Jal Nigam. This work was to be done under the supervision of JE of Jalkal. JE Archana of Jalkal went on maternity leave for 6 months in November 2023.

Meanwhile, the charge of JE of Jalkal was given to JE Rahul of Jal Nigam by the then Additional District Magistrate Kamlesh, AE of Jal Nigam and officials of Nagar Palika to commit corruption in this work. In which JE Rahul Singh, in connivance with the then Additional District Magistrate Kamlesh and officials of Nagar Palika, misused the government money and got half-hearted quality-less work done and distributed the entire money.
Hand over the project worth Rs. 40 crores without any investigation
Before the JE of Jalkal returned from leave, the project worth Rs. 40 crore was handed over in a hurry without any investigation. After returning from leave, the JE of Jalkal inspected the said work. In which many irregularities were found. Its report was given to the District Magistrate Basti and Additional District Magistrate Basti. But no action was taken by the district administration.
It was said that going against the government order, the then Additional District Magistrate had given the charge of electrical, mechanical works of all the Nagar Panchayats in the district to JE Rahul of Jal Nigam.
