In the Kanpur Civil Lines Nazul land encroachment case, the police on Sunday once again raided the houses of 6 journalists associated with the Kanpur Press Club with heavy force. Four journalists were taken into custody and brought to the Kotwali police station and released after hours of interrogation. Police said that the police is not taking any action against journalists.

Raids are being conducted in search of DVR and absconding accused
DCP East Shravan Kumar Singh said that raids were conducted on Sunday as well to nab the gang that had encroached upon Nazul land. DCP East said that under his supervision, ACP Collectorganj and ACP Chakeri raided different locations simultaneously with the force of 6 police stations. The police is conducting raids in search of the absconding accused and other documents including the DVR that disappeared during the incident. The team first raided the houses of Raman Gupta and Naushad, journalists associated with the Press Club, resident of Motimohal Harbanshmohal. After this, the team raided the house of Ali Abbas, resident of Patkapur and Abhinav Shukla near Birhana Road Fieldkhana Tapeshwari Temple.

After this, a raid was conducted at the house of Farhan in Talaq Mohalla Irshadiya School Chamanganj and Riaz, a resident of Beconganj. The police took Farhana and Riaz and others into custody and took them to the Kotwali police station. After this, they were released after hours of interrogation.
Two so-called journalists sent to jail
On the complaint of massage parlor operator Jiya Malik, who lives in Gadiyana of Chakeri, a case of extortion was registered against two so-called journalists in Harbansh Mohalla police station and they were arrested on Sunday. According to the police, Jiya Malik told in her complaint that she works as a masseuse on the third floor of a hotel located on Express Road.
On August 2, around 8 o’clock, Shumm and Nitin came to her and called her downstairs and asked her to give them 5000 rupees and 8 bottles of beer. On refusing, they said that they are journalists. They know what she does. After this, they demanded 10 thousand rupees as extortion money every month. Inspector in charge Harbansh Mohal Vikram Singh said that both the accused have been arrested and sent to jail.
