Voters are exercising their right to vote by standing in queues at 109 polling booths since 8 am today in Gonda district for 33 posts. Extensive security arrangements have been made at all 109 polling booths, so that no one can vote without objection.

Gonda Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal has inspected several polling stations and instructed officers engaged in the election to conduct fair elections.

There are 6 candidates in the election for the fourth post of Zila Panchayat member of Paraspur development block. Tight security arrangements have been made here, because last year the Zila Panchayat member was shot dead and after almost 1 year, by-elections are being held here.

At the same time, voting for 11 Pradhan, 3 BDC and 18 Gram Panchayat members will be held at the booths till 5 pm and 43,315 voters will decide the fate of 102 candidates for 33 posts.

Voting should be held in so many panchayats

Voting is being held in 21 panchayats of the region for the district panchayat member. 53 candidates are in the fray for 11 posts of Pradhan, seven for three BDC posts and 36 for 18 posts of Gram Panchayat member. The most important 11 Pradhan posts are being elected.

In such a situation, strict security arrangements have been made in these 11 panchayats. Elections for the Pradhan are to be held by 5 pm in Jalalpur of Nawabganj block, Khanpur, Shishav of Tarabganj, Mohanpur, Sahibapur, Ballipur, Sirbankat of Wazirganj, Pipra Chaube of Rupaidih, Kursaha and Pipra Barakhan of Babhanjot.

Gonda Assistant Election Officer Narayan said that voters are voting for 102 candidates at 109 booths for 33 posts since morning, elections are going on peacefully everywhere. Nodal officers have also been appointed for by-elections in different areas along with mosque plates. Training of 30 parties for counting of votes is to be held on Thursday in Vikas Bhawan.
