Continuous rise in water level of Yamuna and Betwa | Continuous rise in water level of Yamuna and Betwa: Administration in alert mode, flood posts activated, Betwa flowing at 97.55 and Yamuna at 96.35 meters – Hamirpur News


The water level of Betwa and Yamuna is continuously increasing in Hamirpur. Due to the release of water from Matatila and Lahchura dam into Betwa river, Betwa is rising at a rate of 38 cm and Yamuna at a rate of 7 cm. Currently Betwa is flowing at 97.55 m and Yamuna at 96.35 m.

Due to the continuous rain in Madhya Pradesh, the gates of other small dams including Matatila and Lahchura built on its border have been opened, and their water has been released into Betwa. Since Betwa meets Yamuna after reaching Hamirpur, the water of Betwa is pushing into Yamuna, due to which the water level of Yamuna is also continuously increasing.

In view of the constantly rising water level of the rivers, the district administration is in alert mode. Surveillance of flood posts has been intensified. People are constantly being appealed to avoid any kind of activities in the rivers.

The rising water level of the rivers is being monitored

Executive Engineer of Maudha Dam, Karanpal Gangwar, said that the rising water level of the rivers is being monitored, but there is no possibility of flood like situation right now. At present, Betwa river is flowing at 97.55 meters and Yamuna at 96.35 meters, whereas the danger mark of Betwa is 104.54 and the danger mark of Yamuna is 103.63 meters.
