Dharambir won the gold medal in club throw.

India won the 24th medal at the Paris Paralympics on Wednesday night. In the club throw final that went on till 2 am, Dharambir Singh won the gold and Pranav Surma won the silver medal. Earlier, archer Harvinder Singh had won the gold and shot putter Sachin Sarjerao had won the silver. On the 7th day of the games, Indian players won 2 gold and 2 silver medals.

With this, India’s total medal count in the Paris Games has reached 24. These include 5 gold, 9 silver and 10 bronze. Currently, India is at number 13 in the medal tally. This is the best performance of Indian para athletes in Paralympic history. India had won 19 medals in the Tokyo Games.

Late night Dharambir Singh won gold with a best throw of 34.92 meters and Pranav Surma won silver with a best throw of 34.59 meters. India could have won all three medals in the club throw event by making a clean sweep, but Amit Kumar committed 4 fouls in 6 attempts. His 2 throws were correct, in which the best could go only 23.96 meters. Due to which Amit remained at number 10. The F-51 category includes those athletes who have limb deficiencies, leg length differences, lack of muscle strength or lack of range of motion.

Harvinder became the first Indian to win Archery Gold Harvinder Singh became the first Indian to win a gold medal in archery at the Paralympic Games. Harvinder was ranked 9th in the ranking round of the Men’s Individual Recurve Open. In the round of 32, he defeated Lung-Hui Seng of Chinese Taipei 7-3. Harvinder defeated Setiawan 6-2 in the pre-quarterfinals.

Harvinder won the quarterfinal against Julio Hector Ramirez of Colombia 6-2. In the semifinal, Harvinder defeated Iran’s Mohammad Reza 7-3. He then defeated Poland’s Lukasz Czeszak 6-0 in the final and won the gold medal.

PM Narendra Modi congratulated Harvinder on X. He wrote- ‘Special Gold in Para Archery. Congratulations to Harvinder Singh on winning gold in Men’s Individual Recurve Open. His focus, target and spirit were amazing. India is very happy with your victory.’

Simran made it to the semi-finals Simran of India has made it to the semi-finals of the 100 meter race in the women’s T-12 category. She secured first place in heat-1 of round-1 with a time of 12.17 seconds. Simran’s semi-final will be held tomorrow at 3.21 pm.

Sachin got today’s first medal The first medal of the 7th day of Paralympics was won by Sachin Sarjerao in shot put. He won silver in the men’s F-46 category with an Asian record of 16.32. The F46 category is for those athletes who have weakness in their hands, weak muscles or lack of movement of the hands.

Highlights from day 6…

missed out on winning gold in javelin throw In the men’s F-46 category, India’s Sundar Singh Gurjar holds the world record of throwing the javelin at a distance of 68.60 meters. He could throw the javelin only 64.96 meters, due to which he got the bronze medal. While Ajeet Singh won the silver by throwing the javelin at a distance of 65.62 meters.

Cuba’s Guillermo Gonzalez won the gold medal by throwing 66.14 meters in the second attempt. India’s Rinku finished fifth by throwing a best throw of 61.58 meters in the last attempt. The F-46 category includes those athletes who do not have one hand or whose one hand is not working.

Won 2 medals in high jump In the high jump of T-42 and 63 category, Sharad Kumar won the silver medal by jumping 1.88 meters. While Mariyappan Thangavelu jumped 1.85 meters and secured the third position. Ezra French of America remained at the first position by jumping 1.94 meters.

India’s Shailesh Kumar finished fourth in the event with a best jump of 1.85 meters. All three athletes from India are in the T-42 category. This includes athletes who have a broken leg or who have difficulty walking or running on one leg.

Deepti Jivanji won the bronze medal Deepti Jivanji won the bronze medal in the 400 meter race in the women’s T-20 category. She completed the race in 55.82 seconds. Yulia Shulyar of Ukraine won the gold with a time of 55.16 seconds. While Turkey’s Aysal Onder won the silver medal by completing the race in 55.23 seconds.

Deepti became only the second Indian athlete to win a medal in a track event in the Paralympic Games. Before her, Preeti Pal had won two bronze medals in the 100m and 200m races of the T-35 category in the same Paralympics. Today, Avni Lekhara missed out on winning a medal in 50m shooting.
