Duleep Trophy- Mushir Khan remained unbeaten after scoring a century: India-B scored 202/7 on the first day; India-D all out for 164 runs in the second match

India’s domestic season has started with the Duleep Trophy. Mushir Khan, playing for India-B, scored a century on the first day. The format of this 6-match tournament has been changed from the current season. This time 4 teams are participating. India A is playing against India B in Bengaluru, while India C is playing against D in Anantapur.

In Bengaluru, under the captaincy of Abhimanyu Easwaran, India B batsman Mushir Khan is unbeaten on 105 runs till the end of the first day’s play. During this, he hit 10 fours and 2 sixes in 227 balls.

Earlier on Thursday, India A captain Shubman Gill and India C captain Rituraj Gaikwad won the toss. Both the captains have decided to bowl.

1. India A vs India B: Mushir Khan scores century, unbeaten partnership with Navdeep By the end of the first day’s play, India B has scored 202 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Team batsman Mushir Khan returned unbeaten after scoring 105 runs and Navdeep Saini returned unbeaten after scoring 29 runs. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was out after scoring 30 runs and captain Ishwaran was out after scoring 13 runs. Sarfaraz Khan was out for 9 runs and Rishabh Pant was out for 7 runs. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar could not open their account.

Mushir Khan and Navdeep Saini have made an unbeaten century partnership for the 8th wicket. India A’s Khalil Ahmed, Akash Deep and Avesh Khan got 2-2 wickets each. Washington Sundar was run out.

2. India C vs India D: 4 out of 6 batsmen got out in single digits In the match being played in Anantapur, India D, captained by Shreyas Iyer, was all out for 164 runs. Akshar Patel contributed 86 runs. The remaining batsmen could not perform well. In reply, India C scored 94 runs after losing 4 wickets till the end of the day’s play.

India D lost the first wicket at the team score of 4 runs. Here opener Atharva Tayde was out after scoring 4 runs. He was caught by Anshul Kamboj at the hands of Vijaykumar Vaishakh. Yash Dubey also returned to the pavilion after scoring 10 runs after Tayde. Captain Shreyas Iyer could also score only 9 runs. Devdutt Padikkal could not even open the account. 4 out of the top-6 batsmen of the team could not cross the double-digit mark.

After losing 8 wickets for 76 runs, Akshar Patel took charge of the innings and scored 86 runs to take the score past 150. Vijaykumar Vaishakh took 3 wickets for India C. Anshul Kamboj and Himanshu Chauhan took 2 wickets each.

West Zone has won the Duleep Trophy the most number of times The first edition of the Duleep Trophy, named after Kumar Shri Duleep Singh ji of Nawanagar, was played in 1961-62. In the first tournament, West Zone won the final by 10 wickets over South Zone. Moreover, West Zone is the most successful team in the competition with 19 trophies. To date, 61 editions of the Duleep Trophy have been played.

West Zone had won the 2022-23 title by defeating South Zone by 294 runs.
