Paris Paralympics- Praveen Kumar wins gold in men’s high jump: Hokato Hotoje Sema wins bronze in shot put, India has 27 medals so far

India won the 27th medal in the Paris Paralympic Games. Hokato Hotoze Sema won the bronze medal in the final of Men’s Shot Put F-57 on Friday. He made a personal best throw of 14.65 meters. India’s Soman Rana finished 5th in the same event. He scored 14.07.
Earlier, Praveen Kumar won the gold medal in the final of Men’s High Jump T-64 on Friday. He made an Asian record by jumping 2.08 meters. This is India’s sixth gold in these Paralympic Games.
With the help of Hotoje Sema’s medal, India has reached 17th position in the medal tally. Indian players have won 6 gold, 9 silver and 12 bronze medals so far. This is India’s all-time best performance in Paralympics. Earlier, Indian players had won 19 medals including 5 gold in Tokyo Paralympics.
Hokato Hotoze Sema won bronze In the final of Men’s Shot Put F-57, Hokato Hotose Sema performed brilliantly and won bronze. He threw his personal best of 14.65 meters. In the same event, Iran’s Yasin Khosravi won gold with 15.96 meters, while Brazil’s Thiago Paulino dos Santos won silver by throwing 15.06 meters.

Sixth gold for India In the final of Men’s High Jump T-64, Praveen performed brilliantly and won gold. He made an Asian record by jumping 2.08 meters. Derek Loxident of America won silver by jumping 2.06 meters, while Temurbek Giyazov of Uzbekistan won bronze by jumping his personal best of 2.03 meters.

Kapil Parmar won bronze Earlier, Kapil Parmar won a bronze medal for India in the Judo Men’s J-1 category late on Thursday night. He defeated Brazil’s Eliton de Oliveira 10-0 in just 33 seconds. Before Kapil, the mixed archery team of Harvinder Singh and Pooja also lost the bronze medal match.

Medalists so far
Kapil lost 0-10 in the semi-finals Indian judoka Kapil Parmar lost in the semi-finals of the men’s 60 kg J1 category. He was defeated 10-0 by Iran’s Khoram Banitaba. Kapil later came back in the bronze medal match.
In the bronze medal match, Kapil (blue jersey) defeated Eliton de Oliveira of Brazil 10-0.
Archery: Indian team was leading till the third set In the bronze medal match of the mixed team event of archery, the Indian pair of Harvinder Singh and Pooja had to face a 4-5 defeat. By the third set of this match, the Indian team was leading 4-2, but the Slovenian archers won the last set to make the score 5-4 and won the medal.
Earlier, the Indian pair could not advance beyond the semi-finals. They were defeated 6-2 by the number-1 ranked team of Italy.
Harvinder Singh won the gold medal in the men’s individual event.
Simran finished fourth in women’s 100m In the women’s T-12 category, Simran Guide of India could not win a medal in the 100 meter race. She stood fourth in the race of 4 athletes. She completed the race in 12.31 seconds. Omara Elias of Cuba won the gold medal by completing the race in 11.81 seconds.
Ashok finished sixth in para powerlifting India’s Ashok finished sixth in men’s powerlifting in the 65 kg weight category. He lifted the best weight of 199 kg in his second attempt. China’s Yi Zhou won the gold medal by lifting 215 kg. Great Britain’s Mark Swann (213 kg) got silver and Algeria’s Bettir Hocine (209 kg) got bronze medal.
Highlights from Day 7…
India won gold and silver in club throw India won gold and silver medals in the men’s F-51 category club throw event on Wednesday. But it still missed a clean sweep. Late night, Dharambir Singh won gold with a best throw of 34.92 meters and Pranav Surma won silver with a best throw of 34.59 meters. Serbia’s Jeliko Dimitrijevic won the bronze medal with a best throw of 34.18 meters.
India could have won all three medals in the club throw event by making a clean sweep, but Amit Kumar committed 4 fouls in 6 attempts. His 2 throws were correct, in which the best could go only 23.96 meters. Due to which Amit remained at number 10. The F-51 category includes those athletes who have limb deficiencies, leg length differences, lack of muscle strength or lack of range of motion.
Dharambir Singh threw 34.92m in the final.
Harvinder became the first Indian to win Archery Gold Harvinder Singh became the first Indian to win a gold medal in archery at the Paralympic Games. Harvinder was ranked 9th in the ranking round of the Men’s Individual Recurve Open. In the round of 32, he defeated Lung-Hui Seng of Chinese Taipei 7-3. Harvinder defeated Setiawan 6-2 in the pre-quarterfinals.
Harvinder won the quarterfinal against Julio Hector Ramirez of Colombia 6-2. In the semifinal, Harvinder defeated Iran’s Mohammad Reza 7-3. He then defeated Poland’s Lukasz Czeszak 6-0 in the final and won the gold medal.
PM Narendra Modi congratulated Harvinder on X. He wrote- ‘Special Gold in Para Archery. Congratulations to Harvinder Singh on winning gold in Men’s Individual Recurve Open. His focus, target and spirit were amazing. India is very happy with your victory.’
Sachin had got the first medal yesterday The first medal of the 7th day of Paralympics was won by Sachin Sarjerao in shot put. He won silver in the men’s F-46 category with an Asian record of 16.32. The F46 category is for those athletes who have weakness in their hands, weak muscles or lack of movement of the hands.
