India won 7 gold medals in the Paris Paralympic Games.
India performed historically in Paris Paralympics-2024 and ended the journey by winning 29 medals including 7 gold. On the 10th day, Saturday, 7 September, the country got 3 medals. The closing ceremony of the games will be held tonight at 11:30 pm.
India finished 18th in the medal tally. The country won 7 gold, 9 silver and 13 bronze medals. This is India’s all-time best performance, before this in Tokyo the country had won 19 medals including 5 gold.
On the last day, India’s javelin thrower Navdeep won the silver medal in the men’s F41 category, although Navdeep was given the gold after Iranian athlete Beit Sayah Sadegh was disqualified. Apart from Navdeep, Simran won a bronze medal in the 200 meter race of the women’s T-12 category and Nagaland’s Hokato Sema won a bronze medal in the men’s shot put. He lost his left leg in a terrorist encounter 22 years ago.

22 years ago in 2002, Hokato Sema was a Havildar in the Assam Regiment. He lost his left leg below the knee in a landmine explosion during a terrorist encounter in Jammu and Kashmir. Due to this, his dream of joining the Special Forces remained unfulfilled. Disappointed Sema took up sports. He trained at the Army’s Paralympic Node in Pune and prepared himself as an international player.
Sema’s first medal at the international level came in 2022 at the Morocco Grand Prix. He won the silver medal. Then Sema won bronze at the Hangzhou Asian Games. He finished fourth in the World Championship.

6 players could not win medals Jyoti Gaderia could not complete the race in the women’s C1-3 category road cycling event. She finished 15th. Arshad Sheikh also could not complete the race in the men’s road cycling event, he finished 28th. India’s Suyash Jadhav finished 5th in the men’s 50m butterfly S7 category.
In the women’s V2 category 200 meter women’s para canoeing final, India’s Prachi Yadav finished 8th. She completed the race in 1.08.55 minutes. Yash Kumar finished 5th in the men’s KL1 category 200 meter canoe sprint semi-final. He could not make it to the final. Dilip Mahadu missed out on winning a medal in the men’s 400 meters.
