In the absence of Manoj Singh, a carbine was fired at his farm house in Belounakala (Babur) of his village Barsathi at around 6 am. Here the bullet hit constable Ratnesh Prajapati in the head. This led to his death. The deceased Ratnesh was a resident of Alinagar, Sarayalkhasi, Mau. On September 2, Ratnesh and his fellow constable Rajat Pandey were put on Manoj Singh’s security duty. Manoj Singh was in Delhi at the time of the incident.

The SP has handed over the investigation of the case to the CO of Machhlishahr. When asked about the postmortem report, he said that it has not been received yet. The three-member panel conducting the postmortem includes Dr. VK Sonkar of the district hospital, Dr. Ajay Kumar Maurya of CHC Sikarara and Dr. Dheeraj of Mungrachadshahpur.
