The incident took place in Hussainpur village of Mundhapande police station area. Manju Devi, who lives here, had lodged a report of the murder of her husband Sukhpal on 15 July 2020. Manju Devi had said in the FIR that she had gone to her sister-in-law’s village Khaikheda with her husband Sukhpal. The woman had said that on the night of July 14, brother-in-law Rajiv and husband Sukhpal had gone out for a walk. But after this Sukhpal did not return. Only Rajiv returned home.

Manju said that when she asked about her husband, her brother-in-law Rajiv did not tell her anything. His mobile phone was also switched off. When the police searched for Sukhpal, his body was found lying in a well outside the village. During police investigation, it was found that Manju was having an affair with Katghar resident Rajpal. Her husband used to stop this, so she herself had hatched a conspiracy to eliminate her husband. Manju had also included her brother-in-law Rajiv in this conspiracy. On the night of the incident, Rajiv took Sukhpal to the forest on the pretext of a walk. Where Manju’s lover Rajkumar was already waiting. On seeing Sukhpal, both Rajkumar and Rajiv together killed him and threw the body in the well. Police disclosed the incident and arrested Manju Devi, Rajkumar and Rajiv and sent them to jail. The case was heard in the court of Additional and District Sessions Judge Yogendra Chauhan. The court held the three accused Manju, Rajiv and Rajkumar guilty of Sukhpal’s murder and sentenced all three to life imprisonment.
