Elephants trampled sugarcane crops
Actually, a herd of Nepalese elephants comes to Pilibhit every time from Nepal. After staying here for a few days, they go back. In such a situation, last night, Nepalese elephants that came out of the forest located on the border of Pilibhit-Lakhimpur entered the crops of the farmers and caused a lot of damage. Nepalese elephants reached the fields located on the edge of the forest in Pipra Mujpta village and trampled the sugarcane and paddy crops.
Due to which the farmers suffered huge losses. It is being told that the wild elephants have destroyed Rajendra Prasad’s five bigha paddy crop, Ashok’s two bigha sugarcane crop and Ramdulare’s three bigha paddy crop along with the crops of other farmers.
Revenue department team is assessing the loss
After receiving information about the destruction caused by Nepali elephants, the forest department team has reached the spot to investigate. The revenue department team has also reached the spot to assess the loss of the farmers so that compensation for the loss of crops can be provided to the farmers in time.
Giving information on the matter, Manish Singh, Deputy Director of Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, said that information has been received about a herd of Nepali elephants creating havoc. A team has been sent to the spot.
