A Zepto customer was taken aback when, after adding a Rs 60 item to her order, she was presented with a staggering Rs 112 in extra charges at checkout.
Many of us have turned to quick commerce platforms for their lightning-fast deliveries and convenience when it comes to groceries and essentials. But one Zepto customer got more than she bargained for – extra fees double the price of her order. The woman took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express her disbelief over the charges. Many users called the charges billed by the company a “scam”, and some even joked about the Mumbai-based company adding a “rain fee” too to the total amount.

Medhavi Singh exclaimed, “Bro, what?” as she shared a screenshot of the bill summary. As per the screenshot, her item total was just Rs 60, and the final payment ballooned to Rs 171.99. This means that she has to pay Rs 112 extra on an order of Rs 60. The breakdown? A Rs 35 small cart fee, Rs 40 surge fee, Rs 27 delivery charge, and nearly Rs 10 in handling fees. To top it off, the app prompted her to add products worth Rs 39 for free delivery, leaving many scratching their heads.
