A review meeting of the corporation’s departments was held in the Varanasi Municipal Corporation office under the chairmanship of Mayor Ashok Tiwari. In which various development works and public problems of the city were discussed in detail. In the meeting, the world-famous Ramnagar Ramleela was discussed first.

The lights installed in the streets will be fixed during Navratri and Durga Puja
In the review meeting of Varanasi Municipal Corporation, Durga Puja and Navratri were discussed in detail in which the officers were instructed to solve the problems of lights and sewerage around the streets and intersections where Durga Pandals are being built within 10 days. All the zonal officers have also been instructed to prepare a report.
Discussion on the arrangement of tube well and drinking water pipe in the city
The Mayor directed the General Manager Jalkal to contact the regional councilor and ensure that the tubewells to be installed in the wards are completed by 30 September and instructions were given to blacklist the firms which are not working. The General Manager Jalkal was instructed to immediately conduct a survey in 18 prosperous wards and coordinate with the Jal Nigam for laying drinking water pipes and immediately start the process by getting a short-term tender done.
Instructions were given to resolve public problems immediately.
Instructions given to resolve complaints related to road lighting and transport
During the review of the lighting department by the mayor, it was learnt that at present 4478 lights of EESL are out of order. In this regard, it was directed that in view of the upcoming festivals, the said out of order lights should be repaired at any cost and it was also directed that the out of order lights from Rathyatra to Mahmoorganj, Manduadih to BLW should be repaired immediately after conducting a field inspection.
The officer in charge of transport was directed to complete the auction of damaged vehicles by 22.09.2024. Vehicles related to garbage collection should be parked on the land authorized by the Municipal Corporation near the roadways, and garbage collection vehicles should also be parked near Dhanesara Pokhara located at Peelikothi under Adampur Zone.
