The fair was inaugurated by worshipping the stick in Seth Ganga Prasad Maheshwari Auditorium of Saharanpur. He said that India is a country of faith, devotion and traditions. There are innumerable places in the country where lakhs of people participate in traditional festivals and events with devotion and faith and make wishes. Mela Gughal is also one such place. He appealed for cooperation from all the officials, councillors and other public representatives and emphasized on celebrating the fair with grandeur and novelty.

Municipal Commissioner Sanjay Chauhan said that through the Chhadi fair, he got to see the confluence of various cultures and civilizations here. The enthusiasm seen among all the people here for the fair is showing the importance of the fair. He assured that the Municipal Corporation will try to organize the fair with better arrangements than the previous years.

Besides former MLA Jagpal Singh, Fair Chairman Manoj Prajapati, Vice Chairman Mukesh Gakkhar, Councilor Chaudhry Veersain Sidhu, Mansoor Badar and Sanjeev Karnawal, former BJP Metropolitan President Hemant Arora, social worker Sunil Gupta, Bharat Bhushan and Palli Kalra also wished everyone for the Mela Gughal, a symbol of harmony, and said that the devotion with which people of all classes and religions come together to celebrate this fair, is a unique example in itself.
