On 28th September, a goldsmith in the Chowk area was robbed in broad daylight for the first time in the history of the district. This not only spread panic but also raised questions on the credibility of the police. This incident had shaken the police officers here. Despite excessive political pressure, on the fifth day, the police arrested three miscreants Sachin, Tribhuvan and Pushpendra in an encounter and recovered 15 kg silver. This reduced the anger of the traders to some extent. Yes, political parties showed a lot of interest in cashing in on this issue.

The result was that the government started handling the entire case on its own. A high level meeting was held overnight in Lucknow. STF was activated for damage control. The command was handed over to STF CO DK Shahi, who is the favourite of the government. Drunk with government power, the sahab reached to surround the criminal Mangesh Yadav on 5th September with his team wearing slippers. Ultimately Mangesh was killed in the encounter. But his presence at the scene of the incident wearing slippers, the absence of bullet proof jackets with him and his entire team, and the allegations of the family brought his action under suspicion.
Police took the mastermind on remand and recovered the gold
After this, his team could not do much. Civil police worked out the robbery case by going to the bottom of it. Mastermind Vipin Singh was taken on five days remand from the court. On the fourth day of remand, not only were four criminals worth one lakh each arrested. But jewellery worth crores stolen in the robbery was recovered from their possession last Wednesday. This made it clear that if STF had not entered this case, the government’s credibility would not have fallen.
