The water level of the Ganga river in Mirzapur is rising rapidly at the rate of 9 centimetres per hour, which has created an atmosphere of concern in the villages situated in the coastal areas. The district administration has also become active as the water level of Ganga has increased. Through 37 flood posts established in the district, the affected areas are being monitored and relief work is being done. The water level of Ganga was at its highest level of 80.34 meters in 1978, while on August 8 last year, its water level was recorded at 73.66 meters.

The warning point is at 76.724 metres and the danger point is at 77.724 metres. The water level of Ganga was recorded at 74.780 metres at 10 am on Saturday and the water level is rising at the rate of 9 centimetres per hour. Due to the rapid rise in the water level of Ganga in the month of Bhado, Chhanbe, City and Kon blocks of the Sadar tehsil area of ​​the district are being affected.

Apart from this, people are also facing trouble due to flood situation in Kachhwa, Majhawan, Chunar and Narayanpur areas of Chunar tehsil. Overall, about 300 villages of the district have been affected by the flood. Ganga is leaving its course and entering the villages, due to which Harsinghpur village is the first to be affected by the flood water.

After this, the area of ​​Kon Vikas Khand turns into an island. People trapped in the water are being evacuated with the help of boats as water has spread on the road. Due to the fast rising water level of Ganga, personnel have been deployed for relief work who will keep a watch in the flood affected areas and ensure relief work.
