Javelin throw event begins in Diamond League Final: Neeraj Chopra throws 86.82m in first attempt; Anderson Peters at number one

Neeraj Chopra has won the Diamond League Final in 2022.

The final of Diamond League 2024 is being played in Brussels, Belgium. India’s Neeraj Chopra has participated in the javelin throw event. He is in second place after his first attempt, throwing 86.82 meters. Grenada’s Anderson Peters is currently in first place with a throw of 87.87 meters.

India’s steeplechaser Avinash Sable finished ninth in the Diamond League Final on Friday. He completed the 3000m steeplechase in 8:17.09 minutes.

Neeraj secured second position in the first attempt The javelin throw event started at 11:52 pm on Saturday night. In the first attempt, Neeraj Chopra threw a throw of 86.82 meters, which brought him to second place. Anderson Peters of Grenada secured the first place with a throw of 87.87 meters. Julian Weber of Germany finished third with a throw of 85.97 meters.

Neeraj won silver in Paris Olympics Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal in the Paris Olympic Games that ended last month. He had a season best throw of 89.45 meters. Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem won the gold medal with a throw of 92.97 meters. However, he was not a part of the Diamond League.

Neeraj won the gold medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Then Arshad Nadeem could not even make it to the top-5 players. Neeraj has won the Diamond League Final in 2022, in 2023 he finished second.

Neeraj Chopra is the only Indian athlete to win one gold and one silver medal at the Olympics.

Neeraj also has the gold medal in the World Championship Neeraj Chopra also qualified for the 2023 World Championship after winning the Diamond League final in 2022. He won a silver medal in the championship held in Eugene during 2022. In 2023, he changed the color of the medal and won gold. Neeraj has 2 gold medals in the Asian Games and one in the Commonwealth Games.

Avinash finished 9th in steeplechase Avinash Sable finished ninth in the Diamond League 2024 steeplechase 3000m final. He took 8:17.09 seconds to complete the race at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels. Amos Serem of Kenya finished first and Paris Olympic champion Soufiane El Bakkali of Morocco finished second.
