The highest water level of Ganga in the district was recorded at 80.34 meters in 1978. Last year, the water level of Ganga was recorded at 73.66 meters on 8 August 2023. The warning point is 76.724 and the danger point is 77.724 meters. On Sunday at 10 am, the water level of Ganga was recorded at 76.200 meters. Which is about half a meter away from the warning point.

In the last week of Bhado month, once again the water level of Ganga has increased rapidly, which has increased the worries of the people. Due to the flood in the Ganga river, Chhanbe, City and Kon blocks of Sadar tehsil area of ​​the district are affected. Whereas Kachhwa, Majhwan, Chunar, Narayanpur areas of Chunar tehsil have to face damage and trouble due to the flood. About 300 villages of the district are affected by the flood.

Ganga first enters Harsinghpur village. After this, this area of ​​Kon Vikas Khand turns into an island. People trapped in the water are rescued with the help of boats when traffic is blocked due to water spread on the road. Due to the rising water level of the river, Ganga river has entered the houses and shops of the people living in the coastal area.

People have become homeless as water has entered the shops on the Pakka Ghat of Vindhyachal. Those are their shops and houses. In the night itself, while trying to save their family members, all their household goods were washed away by the Ganga. 37 flood posts have been set up in the district. Personnel have been deployed for relief work. They can keep an eye on the flood-affected areas as well as provide relief to the people.

Security needs to be beefed up Prashant Tiwari said that people are reaching the ghats of the city to see the flood of Ganga. During this time they are not forgetting to take selfies. There is a need to strengthen the security system so that no accident happens during selfie.
