DNA report of the child will ensure severe punishment for the accused

A 25-year-old girl living in Juhi was lured into a love affair by Ravi Kashyap of the same area by promising to marry her. After this, they grew closer and had physical relations several times, but when the girl became pregnant, her lover Ravi refused to marry her. After this, on the complaint of the girl, Kidwai Nagar police registered a report of rape and intimidation against the accused Ravi on 27 June 2024 and arrested him and sent him to jail. After the police found the allegations true in the investigation, on 24 July, the charge sheet in the case was also filed in the court.

Here, the rape victim’s pregnancy was more than four months and the rape victim decided to give birth to the child without getting married. The girl delivered on 31 August 2024 and the child died. After this, the girl also became serious. On Monday, the girl also died during treatment in the maternity ward of Hallet. On receiving the information, Kidwai Nagar police sent the body for post-mortem.

DCP South Ankita Sharma said that on 31st August, the girl’s child died during delivery, its post-mortem was also done and DNA has been preserved. If the DNA matches with the accused’s in the investigation report, then no one will be able to save the accused from getting punishment. On the other hand, the accused was sent to jail only after writing the rape report. Currently, he is lodged in Kanpur jail.
