The priest of the Shiv temple in Haidergarh area of Barabanki was beaten up by goons. Mahant Mukundpuri of Neelkantheshwar Mahadev temple opposed the cutting of trees, after which about half a dozen goons attacked him. It is alleged that this entire incident was organised by the BJP MLA and U.P.

Mahant Mukundpuri said that when he protested against the illegal tree felling in the temple premises, Virendra Singh, Ramkumar, Brijesh, Ajju Shukla and Ramchandra Giri along with other goons chased him and beat him in public. Mahant alleges that the BJP MLA and his security personnel remained silent during this incident.
If action is not taken against the culprits, we will give up our lives
The priest has lodged a complaint with the police, but the Mahant, hurt by the incident, has warned that if action is not taken soon, he will commit suicide. He said, I will write a suicide note and put the names of all those bullies in it, then I will give up my life. In this case, the police registered a case against the accused on the complaint of the priest and started investigation.
