CBI will investigate the scam in State Bank | CBI will investigate the scam in State Bank: Lucknow High Court gave the order; Customers had filed a petition – Lucknow News



The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court has handed over the investigation of the scam of crores of rupees in the Lilapur branch of State Bank in Pratapgarh to the CBI. The local police was investigating the case. Not being satisfied with the police investigation, the customers filed a petition demanding a CBI investigation.

This order was given by the division bench of Justice Vivek Chaudhary and Justice Om Prakash Shukla after hearing the petition filed by Mithilesh Kumar Tiwari and others. In the petition, the then bank officials were accused of conspiring with outsiders to mortgage the FDs of many customers and give loans worth Rs 4 crore 98 lakh 30 thousand, which the customers did not even know about.

The then branch manager Jayanath Saroj has been made the main accused in the scam of crores. While hearing the petition, the court found that as per the guidelines of Reserve Bank of India dated 1 July 2016, CBI should register a case in fraud cases of public sector banks of Rs 3 crore to Rs 25 crore.

In the case, the SP of Pratapgarh filed an affidavit and told the court that since the case is serious, the investigation has been transferred to the Crime Branch. During the hearing, the SBI lawyer also supported the request for a CBI investigation.
