Fans on social media were certainly not pleased with the performances by Team India’s specialist batters who crumbled on the opening day of the 1st Test against Bangladesh.
After a poor show by the Indian top-order, fans were quick to express their displeasure showcased by the Indian batting unit as they suffered a humiliating collapse against Bangladesh on the opening day of the 1st Test that took place in Chennai.
It took the pair of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja to notch a 196-run partnership to help put the hosts back in control. The local hero, Ashwin, managed to bring up his sixth Test century while Jadeja scored 86 as the two remained unbeaten at stumps on Day 1.
A photo of some of the key members of the side like Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir and others went viral on social media with several users expressing their disappointment seeing the side smiling away after their disappointing performances individually.
Barring Yashasvi Jaiswal who scored a fifty, none of the other specialist batters were able to take on the Bangladesh bowlers where Hasan Mahmud starred with a four-wicket haul.
‘Disappointed,” said a user who reacted to the pictures of the players having a laugh in the dressing room.
“He should be ashamed of himself rather than disappointed,” said another user who was also not happy with the sight on display.

“Besharams,” said another user on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Kohli who returned to the squad fell after scoring just six runs which marked a disappointing return to the longest format. Having returned after a span of roughly 8 months, many expected the ace-batter to come back strong which then resulted in an anti-climatic outcome.
As for Rohit Sharma, the Indian skipper was part of the side that beat England in a five-match series at home but the captain will be disappointed he was not able to weather the initial storm created by the Bangladeshi pacers. While the conditions were not so easy, Rohit looked like he had a grip on the bowlers as he looked to wear down the new ball.
Now the Indian team will hope to register a massive first-innings score and hope that the bowling unit can get the job in the next phase of the Test match.
