Six years ago, BJP leader Vijay Mishra filed a case against the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of making indecent remarks against Amit Shah. In July, Rahul Gandhi recorded his statement in the MP/MLA court. After this, the plaintiff was called in court for bail.

The date of hearing is fixed for September 21

Regarding the hearing on Thursday, the plaintiff’s advocate Santosh Pandey said that due to his busy schedule in other judicial work, an application was submitted before the court and time was sought to present evidence. On which the court considered the application and fixed the date of September 21 in the case.

In this case, Rae Bareli MP Rahul Gandhi’s lawyer Kashi Prasad Shukla said that Rahul Gandhi’s case was scheduled for prosecution evidence in the MP/MLA court on Thursday. The plaintiff’s lawyer had to present his evidence. In which he informed that he is very busy in many cases today. Due to this reason, he could not present the evidence. The court has accepted his application and fixed the date of hearing in the case on September 21.

Rahul Gandhi’s statement was made on 26 July

On 26th July, Rahul Gandhi appeared in the MP/MLA court for the second time. Where he recorded his statement. He said in the court that I am innocent, there has been a political conspiracy against me. I deny all the allegations. The allegations have been made to tarnish my and my party’s image. After Rahul’s statement, the court fixed 12th August for hearing on the basis of evidence.

One hearing in August and three in September

The hearing was postponed on this date due to the special magistrate being on leave. The next date was 23 August, then 5 September and today 19 September. But the plaintiff’s statement was not recorded. Actually, during the Karnataka elections in the year 2018, Rahul Gandhi had made indecent remarks about the then BJP President and currently the Home Minister of the country, Amit Shah. Hurt by Rahul’s statement, former Cooperative Chairman and BJP leader Vijay Mishra filed a writ in the MP/MLA court of Sultanpur in August 2018. For about five years, dates kept getting postponed in the case. Finally in December 2023, the then Magistrate Yogesh Yadav issued a non-bailable warrant against Rahul Gandhi.

The court granted bail in February

After the NBW action, senior advocate Kashi Prasad Shukla appeared on behalf of Rahul Gandhi in January. After which Rahul Gandhi, who reached Amethi on 19 February with Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, surrendered in the court the next day on 20 February. Here the court granted bail on two sureties of 25 thousand each. After getting bail from the court, Rahul Gandhi had to appear in the court for the statement of accused proceedings.
