Hello and welcome to our live coverage of Day 1 of the 1st Test between India and Bangladesh taking place at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday.

Team India is back in whites as they take on an in-form Bangladesh team that is coming on the back of a whitewash over Pakistan on their home turf. While most of the contests between these two sides have been fairly one-sided, we could see a more even contest for a change.

The Indian team will have the ever-reliable, Virat Kohli making his return to the side. After a break of around eight months, the ace-batter will be keen on making an impact on the field or with the bat.

Among the other big names that could make a return are KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant. The former had been out of action due to injury while the latter is set to complete his comeback to international cricket following his horrific accident which ruled him out of action in the longest format for over two years.

For Bangladesh, it will be the experienced campaigners who will have to lead the way. Veteran, Shakib Al Hasan had played a county game to prepare for the series. He will hope that it will prove to be good enough practice ahead of the game.

As for the weather conditions, expect hot and humid conditions in Chennai with a fair amount of cloud cover with winds blowing 10 to 15 km/h to the west, north-wise region.

Earlier reports have suggested that a red-soil pitch could be used for the game, which aids the pacers to begin with and then the spinners following the wear and tear of the track.
