IPL auction likely to be held abroad in November: teams awaiting retention rules; Vikram Rathore may join Rajasthan Royals

The auction for the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) may be held abroad in November. According to a Cricbuzz report, the auction may be held in the third or fourth week of November. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has indicated this possibility to the IPL teams.
“Like last year, this time too the auction is likely to be held in the Middle East,” an IPL source told Cricbuzz. Last year’s auction was held in Dubai and it would not be a surprise if this time it is held in a Gulf city like Doha or Abu Dhabi. Saudi Arabia, which has been investing heavily in sports including cricket lately, is also interested in hosting the auction.
The mini auction for IPL 2024 was held in December 2023 in Dubai.

Former India batting coach Vikram Rathore is likely to join Dravid in Rajasthan Royals (RR). Paras Mahambre, who was India’s bowling coach during Dravid’s tenure, may also join a team in the league. These coaches had turned down commentary offers in favor of coaching roles.
