This weekend brings an extended holiday period in certain states. In Kerala, banks are closed today, September 21, in observance of Shree Narayana Guru Samadhi, while banks nationwide will be shut tomorrow, September 22, for Sunday. In Haryana, banks will also remain closed on Monday, September 23, for Heroes’ Martyrdom Day.

For urgent financial needs, remember that online banking services and mobile banking apps will continue to operate even during holidays, unless otherwise notified. ATMs are also available for cash withdrawals during these closures.

In total, banks across India—both public and private—will observe at least 14 holidays in September 2024, including weekends (second and fourth Saturdays, Sundays), as well as regional and religious festivals. Since holidays can differ from state to state, it’s recommended to check with your local bank branch or banking app for an up-to-date holiday schedule.
