Now the health department team will reach villages to reduce the cases of snakebite. From the officers sitting in the district to the ASHA workers posted in the village, everyone will play an important role in this. In fact, the target is to reduce the cases of snakebite by 50% in the entire state by 2030.

For this purpose, National Snake Bite Control Program is also being run. The health department team is active in Prayagraj. The superintendents of all the health centers of the district have also been given formal training for this in the CMO office. Now these superintendents will train pharmacists, staff nurses etc. at the block level on how to reduce the cases of snakebite. Important tips have also been given for this.
ACMO Dr. Parvez Akhtar has been made the nodal officer of the campaign.
Training will be given to snake charmers and exorcists
Dr. Varun Kawatra says that such snake charmers will also be trained and they will go to different places and catch snakes by playing the flute. There are still a large number of people in villages who, after getting bitten by a snake, instead of going to the hospital, get into the trap of getting exorcism done. This is the reason why snake bite victims die. This is the reason why snake charmers and exorcists will also be trained.
403 cases of snakebite in Prayagraj in one year
Co-nodal officer of the program Dr. Varun Kwatra said that in the last one year, 403 snakebite cases were reported in the district. Out of these, 230 patients were treated. While 173 patients were referred to higher centers. Most of the snakebite cases are reported in August and September when it rains. There were 114 snakebite cases in August and 105 in September. While not a single case was reported in February.
These are the symptoms of paralysis after snakebite:
- Difficulty in speaking and trouble in breathing.
- Drooping of eyelids means difficulty in opening the eyes. Seeing two different images with both eyes.
- Thinning of voice and difficulty in swallowing.
What to do after a snakebite:
- Let the snakebite victim sleep.
- Do not allow the person to do excessive physical activity. Remove the anxiety of the affected person so that the poison does not spread rapidly in the body.
- Do not allow any light to interfere with the wound.
- After snake bite, immediately call 108 ambulance. Take the victim to the nearest hospital.
Don’t do these things after a snakebite:
- Do not let the snakebite victim become too stressed.
- Do not apply any kind of ointment etc. on the wound.
- Do not make an incision on the wound and do not tie up the affected limb.
- Never try to remove the poison through your mouth.
- Don’t waste time in superstitions instead go to the doctor.
