Under-19 ODI, India beat Australia by 7 wickets: Captain Aman and Karthikeya scored fifties; Mohammad Inan took 4 wickets

Captain Mohammad Aman scored 58 runs.

India’s Under-19 team has made a winning start before the next World Cup. The team defeated Australia by 7 wickets in the first ODI in Puducherry. The Kangaroo team scored 184 runs while batting first, India achieved the target by losing only 3 wickets in 36 overs.

Mohammad Inan took 4 wickets from India. KP Karthikeya took 2 wickets and also played an innings of 85 runs. He received the Player of the Match award for this performance. While captain Mohammad Aman played an innings of 58 runs.

The Kangaroo team lost 5 wickets within 100 runs

India Under-19 team won the toss in Puducherry and chose to bowl first. Australia lost the wicket of captain Simon Budge in the 8th over, Budge could score only 10 runs. After him, Riley Kingsley 36, Jack Curtain 17, Addison Sheriff 1 and Aiden O’Connor were out after scoring 2 runs. The team lost 5 wickets for 82 runs.

Hogan reaches 130

Steve Hogan, who came at number-3, played an innings of 42 runs in 94 balls and took the team past 130 runs. In front of him, Ollie Patterson got out after scoring 7, Lincoln Hobbs 8 and Hayden Schiller 16 runs. In the end, Thomas Brown scored 29 runs and took the team to 184.

For India-A, Mohammad Inan took 4 wickets, KP Karthikeya got 2 wickets. Samarth Nagaraj, Chetan Sharma, Hardik Raj and Kiran Kormale got 1 wicket each.

Bad start for India too

Chasing the target of 185 runs, India Under-19 team had a bad start. The team lost 3 wickets for 32 runs in 5 overs. Rudra Patel got out after scoring 10 runs, Sahil Parikh got out after scoring 4 runs and Abhigyan Kundu got out after scoring 14 runs. After the top-3 batsmen got out early, captain Mohammad Aman took over the innings along with KP Karthikeya.

Aman and Karthikeya shared a 153-run partnership and led the team to victory in 36 overs. Aman remained unbeaten on 58 and Karthikeya on 85. Ollie Patterson from Australia Under-19 took 2 wickets, while Aiden O’Connor took one wicket.

2nd ODI on September 23

By winning the first match of the Youth ODI series, India took a 1-0 lead in the 3 match series. Now the second ODI will be played on 23rd and the third ODI on 26th September in Puducherry. Both the teams will then play a series of 2 Tests.
