ICC launches Women’s T20 World Cup theme song: Pop group WiSH sings ‘Whatever It Takes’; first match on October 3

Australia won the Women’s World Cup 2023 title.
Ahead of the Women’s World Cup starting in the UAE on October 3, the ICC has released the official event song ‘Whatever It Takes’. The song, released on its YouTube channel, also launches an official music video along with the soundtrack, which gives a cinematic preview of the tournament. It highlights iconic moments from women’s cricket.
In a press release issued on Monday, ICC General Manager (Marketing and Communications) Claire Furlong said, ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is the best stage for world-class players to shine. Women’s cricket is firmly established on the global stage, and we aim to further enhance its recognition with the launch of the official event song. The song has been sung by all-girl pop group WiSH India’s first women’s pop group WiSH has sung this song. The music director of the song is Mickey McCleary and the composer is Parth Parekh. It has been produced by Bay Music House. This song has been released by ICC on its YouTube channel.

Pakistan will play its first match against Sri Lanka on 3 October itself.
10 teams will participate in T20 World Cup The Women’s T20 World Cup is to be played in the UAE from 3 to 20 October. 10 teams will participate in this World Cup. 23 matches will be held in 18 days. India is in Group A with 6-time champion Australia. Apart from this, this group includes Pakistan, New Zealand and a team from the qualifier. Host Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies and Qualifier-2 team are in Group B. All the matches of this group will be played in Dhaka.
World Cup shifted from Bangladesh to UAE The Women’s T20 World Cup was shifted from Bangladesh due to political instability in Bangladesh. The International Cricket Council (ICC) had informed about the World Cup being held in UAE, although Bangladesh is hosting the event.
The matches of this tournament, which is going to start on October 3, will be played at Dubai International and Sharjah grounds in UAE. Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe Cricket Boards had also shown interest in hosting the tournament in their country, but the council decided to host the matches in UAE.
