Remo D’Souza is a big name in Bollywood today, recognised among the top choreographers in the industry. Like most people who have made it big in the industry, Remo has also had his fair share of struggling days. One of his big achievements during the time he was still struggling was getting to share the screen space with Shah Rukh Khan. Remo was one of the background dancers behind Shah Rukh Khan in the song Meri Mehbooba from the film Pardes. Yes, when you watch this song carefully, you will see Remo D’Souza dancing next to SRK in blue clothes. The ace choreographer was pretty skinny at that time and is hence not recognisable easily.

Once when Shah Rukh Khan attended a dance show where Remo was a judge, he spoke about it as well. “He arrived in Mumbai from Jamnagar with just 2,500 rupees. I wasn’t aware of this, nor did I even know his name on the set. But now that I know that he is a legend in the field, I want to dance behind him, with him as the lead,” Shah Rukh Khan had said.

Remo D’Souza, in an interview, had revealed that not only did he have a dancing cameo in Pardes but he also had a small scene with Shah Rukh Khan, which did not make it to the final cut. He mentioned that Subhash Ghai requested four people from Ahmed Khan’s team for the garage scene, and he was selected as one of them. “I was assigned lines and had several dialogues with Shah Rukh Khan. It was a completely unfamiliar experience for me,” he said.

When the film premiered, Remo D’Souza excitedly took all his friends to the theatre, boasting that he had worked with Subhash Ghai and Shah Rukh Khan. As they watched the film, he felt disheartened when the first half concluded without featuring a single shot of him. He felt a sense of relief when the song Meri Mehbooba played in the second half, as he had a significant role in that number. “That song saved me; otherwise, my friends would have really given me a hard time,” Remo said.
