The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has sent a notice to wrestler Vinesh Phogat for not providing the correct information about her place of residence. NADA has sought a reply from Vinesh within 14 days. In the notice, the agency told Vinesh that she had made a mistake by not providing the information about her place of residence, as she was not available for dope testing at her home in Kharkhauda village of Sonipat on September 9.
NADA’s notice said- ‘You are served a notice to inform about the apparent failure to comply with the requirements related to the location of stay under the anti-doping rules and to seek a reply before a final decision on the matter. A Dope Control Officer (DCO) was sent to that venue on that day to examine you, but was unable to do so as you were not present at that place.’
All players included in NADA’s Registered Testing Pool (RTP) are required to inform about their availability for dope test. If the player is not available at the place mentioned by him, then it is considered as failure to give information about the whereabouts. NADA can charge the athlete only if he violates the rules related to location information three times in 12 months.
Now what?
- Vinesh will have to either admit to the violation or provide proof that she was present at the location for about 60 minutes.
- Vinesh can say that failure to provide accommodation is not an anti-doping rule violation.
