A massive fire broke out in a general merchant shop due to an electrical short circuit in Mendu town of Hathras Junction Kotwali area. This created chaos there.

At first people tried to control the fire themselves but when the fire did not go out, they informed the police and fire station. The fire station team reached the spot and controlled the fire after several hours of hard work.
Sagar, a resident of Mendu town, runs a general merchant shop in the town itself. Last night a massive fire broke out in his shop due to short circuit. Seeing the flames rising from the shop, a crowd of people gathered. Within no time the fire took a huge form. It was fortunate that the flames did not reach the nearby shops.
Apart from goods, cash was also burnt
When people informed, police and fire brigade reached the spot and after several hours of effort, the fire was controlled. Goods worth lakhs of rupees were burnt to ashes in the fire. Shop owner Sagar says that apart from the goods, cash worth Rs 1.5 lakh was also burnt in the fire.
