Tamsa river rises by one meter due to heavy rain in Azamgarh, ghats submerged in water.
Due to rain in Azamgarh district for the last three days, life has been completely disrupted. Many areas of the district have been flooded due to three days of rain. Due to which life seems to be badly affected.

Along with this, the Tamsa river flowing in the district is flowing one meter higher. At the same time, an increase of 79 cm was recorded in the water level of Ghaghra river flowing in Sagdi tehsil. Most of the low lying parts of the city are flooded. Along with this, people of Kolghat and surrounding areas have started keeping their belongings at safe places and themselves have started moving towards safe places. A rise of 1 meter has been recorded in the water level of Tamsa River in 2 days.
Regulators were closed in Azamgarh in view of the continuously increasing water in Tamsa river.
The flood department also closed the regulator located on the city safety dam at some places on Saturday so that the river water could not flow towards the urban areas. The pump installed to extract water from Kolghat has not been started yet so that the water from Kolghat can be taken out towards the river. Normal life seems to be affected due to continuous rains in the district.

Signs of heavy rain in next 36 hours
District ADM Disaster Azad Bhagat Singh says that there are indications of heavy rain in the district in the coming 36 hours. Along with this, he appealed to the general public of the district to be conscious of the safety of life and property and take necessary preventive measures, so that any untoward incident and possible loss of life can be avoided.

Farmers have been asked to protect themselves from this heavy rain, thunder and lightning and keep the crop produce in a safe place, so that any kind of loss etc. can be avoided. Avoid taking shelter under big trees or in mud houses during strong wind, rain and lightning. So far 11 people have died in the district due to lightning.

Cities and rural areas of Azamgarh district have also faced the problem of power cuts due to continuous rains. The problem of electricity has increased due to break down in rural areas. There is electricity failure for hours. As soon as there was light rain in Dadar village of Pedra Gram Sabha of Atraulia development block of the district, there was complete water logging on the main road. Villagers have to travel through knee-deep water. In such a situation the villagers are completely troubled. Due to which the angry villagers protested by standing in water on the main road on Saturday.

Ghaghra river water level increased by 79 cm in 24 hours
The Ghaghra river flowing in the district has once again come in spate. The water level has reached near the danger mark with a rise of 79 cm in 24 hours. Boat operation has started at five places due to the continuously rising water in the Ghaghra river, which led to the sinking of a dozen villages including Jamuari, Budhanpatti, Banka, Bhadaura, Chakki, Sonaura, Belhiya.

Due to water logging on the roads of nearby villages, the villagers are facing the problem of green fodder for the animals.
