In Maihar, Madhya Pradesh, late on Saturday night, the bus collided with a highway parked on the roadside. 9 people including a 4 year old child died in the accident. Most of the people who died are from UP. 24 were injured. They were admitted to Maihar, Amarpatan and Satna district hospitals.

The accident happened on the National Highway in Nadan Dehat police station area on Saturday night at around 10.30 pm. Sleeper coach bus (UP72 AT 4952) of Abha Travels was going from Prayagraj to Nagpur via Rewa. The bus was at high speed when it collided with a highway (CG04 NB 6786) standing on the roadside near Chaurasia Dhaba.

There were 45 passengers in the 53 seater bus. As soon as the information was received, SP Sudhir Aggarwal along with Nadan and Maihar police reached the spot. Rescue was started. Of the injured, 9 have been admitted to Amarpatan, 7 to Maihar Civil Hospital and 8 to Satna District Hospital.

After the accident, along with the police-administration, the people present on the spot also got involved in rescue.

The bus was completely flattened, leaving many passengers trapped inside.
