During the program at Raj Bhavan, agreement was reached on setting up a bone marrow transplant unit in KGMU.
Patients will not have to wait for bone marrow transplant in KGMU. Now patients suffering from blood cancer, thalassemia and aplastic anemia will get better treatment. A separate bone marrow transplant unit will be built here.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Sonia Nityanand informed that an 8-bed unit will be set up in the Hematology Department of Shatabdi Bhawan. To build the unit, Aditya Birla Capital Foundation and CanKids CSR Fund will provide financial assistance of Rs 2.70 crore.
The agreement was signed between KGMU Aditya Birla Capital Foundation and CanKids in the presence of Governor Anandiben Patel at Raj Bhavan on Thursday. Governor congratulated KGMU. Said that with the construction of the new unit, the path of treatment for patients will become easier.
rabies From saved the girl’s life
Doctors at KGMU succeeded in saving the life of a young girl infected with deadly rabies. The girl is fine after treatment. This is the first case in KGMU when the life of a rabies infected patient could be saved. Its report has been sent to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
A 25-year-old girl from Sitapur was bitten by a dog a year ago and even after taking all the prescribed vaccinations, she still fell victim to rabies. The family members reached KGMU with the girl. Dr. D. is in-charge of the Rabies Unit and Medicine Department here. Himanshu expressed suspicion of rabies on the basis of investigation.
The girl was admitted to ICU. Had to be put on ventilator also. Dr. Himanshu said that in the MRI, the neurons that provide information to the brain were seen shrinking. Started giving neuro related medicines also. Now the patient is fine.
