A case of jailed SP leader Azam Khan will be heard in Allahabad High Court on Thursday. This matter is from Rampur. Hearing in the High Court in the case of hate speech given by SP leader Azam Khan against CM Yogi Adityanath as well as Rampur DM and other officials.

Jailed SP leader Azam Khan has filed a criminal revision petition in the High Court in this case. There is to be a hearing on this. A single bench of Justice Samit Gopal is hearing the case.
In the last hearing, the court had ordered Azam Khan’s lawyer to file a counter affidavit. Allahabad High Court has already summoned the records of the trial court in this case.
In the hate speech case, Azam Khan has filed a petition against the verdict in the Allahabad High Court after the appeal was rejected by the Rampur MP-MLA Sessions Court.
On January 23, 2024, the MP-MLA Sessions Court had rejected the appeal by Azam Khan challenging the trial court order.
Azam Khan got 2 years imprisonment
On July 15, 2023, the Rampur MP-MLA Trial Court had found the SP leader guilty of giving hate speech and sentenced him to two years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2500.
The SP leader had filed an appeal in the MP-MLA Sessions Court against the trial court’s decision.
Azam gave hate speech on 8 April 2019
On January 23, 2024, the MP-MLA Sessions Court, while not giving any relief to Azam Khan in the hate speech case, had rejected the appeal while upholding the decision of the trial court.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, a case of hate speech was registered against Azam Khan at Shahzadnagar police station in Rampur.
During the Lok Sabha elections, on April 8, 2019, SP leader Azam Khan had given a hate speech against CM Yogi and DM and other officials in Dhamora village of Shahzadnagar police station area of Rampur.
After the video of this hate speech went viral, on April 10, 2019, ADO Cooperative Anil Kumar Chauhan had filed a case against Azam Khan at Shahzadnagar police station accusing him of giving hate speech.
The police had registered a case under sections 171G, 505 (1) (B) of the IPC and 125 Representation of the People Act.
On the basis of the case, Shahzadnagar police had filed a charge sheet in the court.
After the hearing, the trial court had declared the SP leader guilty and sentenced him on 15 July 2023.
