New Zealand defeated India by 58 runs in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in Dubai on Friday. New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat first. The team scored 160 runs losing 4 wickets in 20 overs. Chasing the target of 161 runs, the Indian team was all out for 102 runs in 19 overs.
During the India and New Zealand match, there was confusion regarding the run out of Amelia Kerr during the Kiwi innings. Due to which the match was stopped for about 7 minutes. Wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh missed the catch of captain Suzie Bates on the fourth ball of the sixth over of New Zealand’s innings. At that time New Zealand’s score was 50 runs. Arundhati bowled the ball on the middle stump. Bates couldn’t judge and lifted her up. The ball rose very high behind the wicket. Harmanpreet threw the ball straight to wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh. Ghosh dropped the stump without making any mistake. Amelia regretfully considered it run out and started returning to the pavilion. Meanwhile, the third umpire stopped him from returning to the pavilion. Since the umpire had signaled the end of the over. In such a situation it was considered a dead ball. Amelia was saved from being run out. The argument continued for a long time between the umpire and Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur. During this period the match remained halted for about 7 minutes.
