CO Ziaul Haq, resident of Noonkhar Tola Juafar of Deoria district, got the responsibility of Kunda Circle in 2012. Pradhan Nanhe Singh Yadav was shot dead on the evening of March 2, 2013 in Balipur village of Hathigwan. This murder took place at that time. When he was sitting at a tea stall near the disputed land.

After the little one was declared dead at CHC Kunda, the family took the body and went home. There was so much chaos in the village that the police could not muster the courage to go to the chief’s house. The angry villagers were preparing to attack the houses of the accused. Then Kunda along with Kotwal Sarvesh Mishra, SSI Vinay Kumar Singh and Gunner Imran reached CO Zia Ul Haq Pradhan’s house through the back road. Then Suresh Yadav was shot.

Seeing this, the anger of the crowd flared up further. According to CBI, the villagers who were firing surrounded the CO and started beating him with sticks. While the policeman and the gunner ran away and hid in the fields. After the arrival of heavy forces from the district, the police were able to capture the body of the CO from the Khadanja behind the Pradhan’s house. After the murder of the CO, the government suspended the then Superintendent of Police, SO and other policemen and conducted an investigation.

Four FIRs were lodged in the triple murder case. On the complaint of Parveen, wife of deceased CO Jiya Ul, the police had registered a case against Raghuraj Pratap Singh Raja Bhaiya, Sanjay Singh alias Guddu Singh, Gulshan Yadav, Hariom Srivastava, Rohit Singh. However, later CBI gave clean chit to all the accused including Raja Bhaiya.

ADG Arun Kumar, who reached the police line after the murder of the CO, had to face opposition. Apart from the family members, the local people also created a ruckus raising questions about the policing of the district. SP of Amethi, Sultanpur was also sent to take care of deceased CO’s wife Parveen. Even the government had made Deoria SP LR Kumar the SP of Pratapgarh and sent him by helicopter.

After the murder of Balipur Pradhan Nanhe Singh Yadav, CO Zia Ul Haq informed the higher officials about the incident and went towards the incident site along with Kunda Kotwal Sarvesh Singh, SSI Vinay Singh and Gunner Imran. Amidst firing and abuses, Pradhan reached Nanhe’s house and other policemen, including Kunda Kotwal, ran away. The villagers surrounded the CO lying alone, beat him with sticks and later shot him dead.

The then Akhilesh government had handed over the investigation of the triple murder to the CBI. After this incident, Raja Bhaiya had also tendered his resignation from Akhilesh government. CBI had filed its closure report in 2013 itself on the FIR of the case registered by the wife of the late CO.

CBI had given clean chit to Raja Bhaiya, Gulshan Yadav, Hariom, Rohit, Sanjay. However, Parveen had again gone to court against this closure report. The court had rejected the closure report. CBI had also conducted narco test on the demand of Raja Bhaiya. After this the case went to CBI court. Where after the hearing the accused were declared guilty.
