Hundreds of cows died after eating fodder containing harmful chemicals in the Gilola Large Cowshed located in Ikauna block of Shravasti. This has been revealed in the investigation report of Animal Disease Research and Diagnostic Centre, Indian Veterinary Research, Izzatnagar.

On October 4, the health of the cows suddenly deteriorated in the cowshed. More than 100 cows died within about 12 hours. The bran and chaff given to the cows in the cowshed were sent to the lab for testing. It was found in the lab that nitrate-nitrarite was found in the bran and chaff given to the cows. Due to this, cows have died. The research center has suggested the livestock department not to feed only green fodder to the ruminants. Always give chaff mixed with green fodder. Do not feed damaged and fungus-infected foods to animals.

Death due to mixing of medicine in fodder Local people say that the health of the cows in the cowshed had deteriorated. Veterinarians came and checked the health of the cows. The medicine given by the veterinarian was mixed with fodder and fed to the cows. After this the cows died within no time. After receiving information about the death of hundreds of cows in the cow shed, DM and SP of Shravasti also reached the spot.

FIR has been registered against the representative of the village head. Also, the Gram Panchayat Secretary has been suspended. The village head has also been issued a notice under Rule 95G. Veterinary Officer Dr. Vinay Kumar Singh has also been suspended by the government.
