It is reported that Thomas Tuchel’s negotiations with the English FA is at an advanced stage with a quick agreement on the cards.

England could be on the hunt for their permanent manager ever since Gareth Southgate decided to step down from the role following their heartbreaking loss at the Euro 2024 and a Champions League-winning coach could be roped in for the job.

According to a report by WELT TV, England has begun negotiations with the former Bayern Munich manager, Thomas Tuchel for the head coaching job. It is reported that the negotiations are in the advanced states with an agreement possible fairly quickly regarding the deal.

Southgate had previously held the job for eight years and has taken England to consecutive finals at the Euros along with a deep run in the FIFA World Cup as well. However, the England FA could see Tuchel as the final piece of the puzzle that can help the national side end their 58-year-long trophy drought.

With a reputation for bringing in trophies for every major club he has been a part of. Since becoming a top-flight manager, he has handled clubs like Borussia Dortmund, Paris St Germain, Chelsea and most recently Bayern Munich.

Tuchel is a widely respected manager within the club’s football circle. With PSG and Chelsea, he has led the respective teams to a Champions League final and won the title with the London-based club in the 2020-21 season, beating Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

England is currently being managed by Lee Carlsley who holds the role on an interim basis. Most recently the side suffered a shocking loss to Greece in the UEFA Nations League. Tuchel on the other hand has the unwanted record of ending Bayern Munich’s 11-year title-winning streak in the Bundesliga after the German sides conceded the title to Bayer Leverkusen for the 2023-24 season.

The Three Lions are currently second in Group F of the UEFA Nations League and will play their fourth game against Finland to end their international break. The Euro 2024 finalists will be eager to get back and fire on all cylinders after their loss in the previous game.

Tuchel on the other hand might be eager to get back into management and international football could be a new challenge for the German manager which could prove to be an exciting venture having built experience during his club football stint with Chelsea.
