Lawrence Bishnoi’s activism in UP came to light when SP candidate Abhay Singh was allegedly attacked during the 2022 assembly elections. However, it was seen as a political fight between BJP and SP. But, Abhay Singh, who was later elected MLA, created a sensation by saying that Lawrence Bishnoi was in danger to his life. Abhay Singh had directly accused a mafia of Purvanchal and said that he wants to kill him through Lawrence.

When NIA interrogated Lawrence Bishnoi, he had taken the name of Vikas Singh Deogarh, a resident of Ayodhya, UP. Later, NIA raided Vikas’s premises and arrested him.

Two youths from Bahraich have also been accused of murdering Baba Siddiqui.

Lawrence has created a good network around Ayodhya through development. It is also being told that Bishnoi provides training to his shooters in Nepal. In that respect also, Eastern Uttar Pradesh can be a better haven for him. Sources say, apart from UP, Lawrence is setting up his network in Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab. Vikas Singh is currently lodged in Tihar jail in an NIA case.

The main reason for this is an order of the Union Home Ministry, which prohibits the shifting of Bishnoi from Sabarmati Jail in Ahmedabad. The order was initially effective till August, 2024, but was later extended. Bishnoi was shifted from Tihar to Sabarmati jail in August 2023 on charges of cross-border drug smuggling. Since then he is lodged in Sabarmati jail.

Be it the Ajit Singh murder case in Gomtinagar, Lucknow, the Atiq-Ashraf murder case or the Jiva murder case in the court. All these incidents remain a mystery. However, no concrete evidence has been found yet about the presence of Lawrence’s henchmen in UP. But, with Lawrence’s name coming up in such incidents, it is natural for the needle of suspicion to turn towards him.
