The Department of Sociology, Lucknow University organized a lecture on the 57th death anniversary of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia. On this occasion, keynote speaker Anand Kumar said – Lohia’s ideas are relevant even today. He worked for the rights of backward castes, Dalits, tribals and women.

The program started with garlanding the statue of Dr. Lohia, in which Vice Chancellor Prof. Alok Rai, Prof. Anand Kumar along with teachers, staff, PhD researchers and UG-PG students were present. On this occasion, Professor Anand, while explaining the challenges of the process of nation building, said – Farmer’s movement, New Education Policy 2020 and environmental crisis are challenges before us. He expressed concern over the lack of education budget and stressed the importance of sustainable development.

At the end of the lecture, Prof. Anand gave 11-point suggestions for nation building. He inspired the youth and said that they should understand the thoughts of Dr. Lohia and other great leaders and make their future bright. The vote of thanks for the program was given by Dr. PK Gupta, who described Prof. Anand’s ideas as beneficial for teachers and students. In the question answer session, research students asked their questions, which were answered by Prof. Anand.
