Pant’s knee which underwent surgery got injured: Had to go out of the field, Latham got life support in confusion; moments

Team India was all out for 46 runs on the second day of the first Test being played between India and New Zealand in Bengaluru. In reply, New Zealand has scored 180 runs at the loss of 3 wickets by the end of the day’s play.
On Wednesday, the day’s play was abandoned without the toss due to rain on the first day. On the second day on Thursday, Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first.
During New Zealand’s innings, Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant got injured and left the field. Due to rain the match had to be stopped for some time. Pant was caught by Tom Blundell behind the wicket.

1. Match stopped for 30 minutes due to rain Play on the second day of the match started 15 minutes before the regular time. Only 12 overs had been played when it started raining. Play was stopped after the fourth ball of the 13th over was bowled. By then India had lost 3 for 13 runs. Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal were at the crease at that time. The match was stopped at 10:27 pm and started again at 11.05 pm.

2. Pant hit the first boundary for Team India in the 13th over. India’s first boundary was hit in the 13th over. When the match started after a 30-minute break after the rain ended, William O’Rourke bowled the fifth ball of the 13th over. Pant was on strike. O’Rourke bowled the ball outside the off side. Pant played it towards cover point. The ball went out of the boundary and thus the first boundary of this match came.
Pant was out after scoring 20 runs on 49 balls. Was the team’s top scorer in the first innings.
3. Tom Blundell missed Pant’s catch in the 15th over. Tom Blundell dropped an easy catch of Pant on the third ball of the 15th over. Actually, William O’Rourke’s ball touched the edge of Pant’s bat and went to wicketkeeper Tom Blundell behind the wicket. They failed to capture it. At that time Pant was playing after facing 15 balls and scoring 7 runs. Later Pant faced 49 balls and scored 20 runs. He was the top scorer of the team.

4. Conway scored the first six of the match Devon Conway hit the first six of the match. On Thursday, the second day of the match, in the second session, he hit a six on the last ball of the 17th over off the ball of R Ashwin. Not a single six was hit in the Indian innings.

5. Latham got life support in confusion Captain Tom Latham got a lease of life in the 13th over of the Kiwi innings. Siraj’s ball hit Latham’s bat and passed between Virat Kohli and KL Rahul standing at slip. Latham played the ball away from the body outside the off stump, which went to Rahul at second slip. Kohli had already moved in the opposite direction of the ball and Rahul felt that Kohli would take the catch. In this confusion the ball went out of the boundary line. However, he could not play a big innings and was out after scoring 15 runs.

6. Pant got injured, went out of the field Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant suffered an injury to his right knee during New Zealand’s innings, due to which he had to leave the field. When Pant was hit by the ball, he lay down on the field due to pain. The physio saw him on the field and tried to bend his leg. However, Pant did not get any relief from this and he limped out of the field with the physio. Dhruv Jurel came in his place for wicketkeeping.
Actually Jadeja was batting 37th during New Zealand’s first innings. Devon Conway dodged the last ball of the over and the ball almost touched the off stump and went to Pant’s right. Pant dived and injured his knee. This is the same leg which has undergone surgery. In December 2022, Pant had a car accident while going from Delhi to Roorkee. Pant was injured and his right leg was injured. Later his knee surgery was done in a hospital in Mumbai. Pant made a comeback to international cricket this year in the T-20 World Cup.
After getting injured, Pant limped out of the field with the physio.
