Breaks fast by drinking water from husband’s hand

Jail Superintendent Suresh Singh said that this time 23 women prisoners observed the fast of Karva Chauth in the jail. The husbands of 10 of these women are also in jail, with whom they performed puja and completed their fast. The remaining women broke the fast by looking at the pictures of their husbands. Along with providing puja material to these women prisoners, the jail administration also gave them Karva Kalash specially made from jail soil, with which they performed the puja.

The women prisoners kept a waterless fast since morning and prepared for the puja throughout the day. After sunset, all the women gathered in the jail temple premises and read the story of Karva Chauth and narrated it to each other. As soon as the moon appeared in the sky, women broke the fast by offering Arghya to the moon. Those whose husbands were in jail broke their fast by getting their husbands to drink water, while the rest of the prisoners broke their fast by looking at the photos of their husbands.
